ATIS Information :
„CLOUD BASE IN FINAL APPROACH RWY 16 xxxft ABOVE GND“ :
When the cloud base at the airport is above 800ft or even there is no cloud base reported, it may be that there are still some low clouds / fog patches in the Final Approach Sector (approx. 2NM final RWY 16). Arrivals flying the ILS RWY 16 (OCH 300ft – 780ft) may loose visual contact after passing the DH or even have to start the MAPP at DH. To avoid this, pilots will be informed with this additional info to the MET Report on the ATIS and it is in such cases recommended to fly a „Special ILS“ procedure.

Special VFR Procedures:
| FOR LATEST INFORMATION CHECK AIP AUSTRIA AND NOTAM |
Please consider the following information :
-You will find the chart for VFR flights in the AIP Austria, LOWS AD 2.24-9. Use always an up to date chart.
-All flights to and from controlled airports in Austria have to file a flightplan.
-Consider the airspace structure – generally flights are subject to an ATC clearance when flying in the CTR and SRA. Note that the CTR / TMA Salzburg is also extended to the west into German airspace.
-In time, set the Transponder on 7000 and mode C / altitude or maintain an instructed code.
-You may talk to SALZBURG TOWER/ SALZBURG RADAR in German or English.
-Arrival / Departure Information on ATIS 125,725MHz.
Transit flights :
-Contact SALZBURG RADAR 123,725MHz prior entering airspace which requires an ATC clearance.
Arrivals :
-Contact SALZBURG TOWER 118,1MHz prior entering airspace which requires an ATC clearance.
Departures :
-Do not forget to file a flightplan (Even if you fly “NO ATA” to an Austrian airfield or going to cross the border to Germany!).
-For the first call (taxi clearance) contact SALZBURG TOWER 118,1MHz.
-Adhere to the noise abatement procedures during departure.
